About Me

THERAPY, PARENT COACHING, WORKSHOPS

Lara Pierre, MSW, RSW

I am a Registered Social Worker with 15 years of experience providing direct support to children, youth, and families of all ethnicities, race, religion, genders, sexual orientations and abilities.

My career began as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner, working on the frontlines in youth shelters, group homes and in-patient hospital units. I later completed a Masters of Social work and focussed my skills and training on becoming a psychotherapist. Before opening my own practice, I provided therapy to children, youth and families in community-based Children’s Mental Health agencies.

Today, I support both young people and adults alike. I provide family therapy, parent coaching, as well as, individual therapy.

I am also a School Social Worker, providing therapeutic support to students, parents, and faculty. This work allows me to have a broad understanding of the common challenges faced by children in a school context. More recently I extended my practice to provide schools across Ontario with workshops and consultation on Emotion-Focused School Support strategies in order to increase the reach of caring adults in support of children’s mental wellness.

As a parent I also draw on my own experience to support families and caring adults in discovering their unique pathways to increased wellness.

I am a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and my services are covered by many health benefit plans.
